Flamborough South Landing Beach

This reserve, close by the Living Seas Centre, includes a woodland nature trail, wild flower meadow and superb beach for rock pooling. The nature trail winds its way along a wooded valley that is a mecca for migrating birds in spring and autumn. Along the cliff tops, there are panoramic sea views due south, an unusual experience on the Yorkshire coast. South Landing hosts an important colony of tree sparrows, whose numbers have declined across the country by 95% over recent years. The nature trail is a great place for wild flowers, with over 350 species recorded here. In the meadow, colourful vetches and marsh orchids bloom, in the woods yellow celandine and primroses are scattered amongst the trees, and on the cliffs pink thrift can be spotted.
